Petrol price hike fuels AIADMK demo Tuesday
Says DMK has not taken steps to force the Centre for a rollback..

CHENNAI: Faulting the DMK, a constituent partner of the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre, for its failure to take concrete steps to withdraw the steep hike in petrol price, Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Saturday announced that her party cadre would stage demonstrations in all district headquarters on May 29, urging the Centre to revoke the hike.“ The Congress-led UPA government seems to have shed the democratic culture of heeding to the feelings of the people...the DMK president, who is safeguarding the United Progressive Alliance government, instead of demanding immediate steps to withdraw the hike, announced demonstrations against the move... people should understand that this is just an eyewash action taken by the DMK ”, Jayalalithaa in the statement.Reiterating her demand for withdrawing the hike in petrol price, Jayalaltihaa said the AIADMK cadre would stage demonstrations in front of the Central government offices located at the headquarters of all the 52 party districts in Tamil Nadu, on May 29.  Besides, the cadre in Puducherry, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, New Delhi and Andaman and other States would stage demonstrations. Jayalalithaa said the members and office-bearers of the all wings of the AIADMK should take part in the demonstrations and the public should also attend the agitations in large numbers since it is being staged in the interests of the people.
