BANGALORE: Apart from organising the usual bike rallies and human chains, Anna’s supporters are finding novel and creative ways now to spread the message of anti-corruption.Students of Bharath Education Society (BES), in association with Sneha Shakti Vidya Bharthi Sangattan (SSVBS), have been staging mythological plays at the park for the past three days. One such play is on a person who is involved in a series of corrupt acts. After his death, he is sent to the God of death - Yama for his punishment. When Yama learns from his assistant Chitragupta of the crimes committed by the dead man, he questions the accused. The man, in order to escape the wrath of Yama, quickly slips a `1,000 note into the hands of Yama as a bribe. The ‘God of death’ gets enraged over this and starts whacking him with his famous weapon of punishment - the mace - much to the thrill of the spectators.Madhu, a final-year BCom student from BES College who plays the role of Yama, says, “We have got good response from the audience, and we plan to put up more such shows to spread awareness among the people on the evil of corruption.” The group has been staging plays at various places in Bangalore, such as Jayanagar and RV Road.
