Plus two student in Kovai tries to kill self

TIRUPUR: A plus two student attempted suicide near Palladam on Friday as he was allegedly not permitted to attend practical examination due to lack of attendance.Seventeen-year-old Promod (name changed), son of a daily wage labourer, is studying at Government Higher Secondary School in Palladam.A teacher did not allow him to face the Computer Science practical examination on February 6, saying he had skipped many classes and lacked the minimum attendance.According to people who know the boy, he was in a dejected mood for the past few days as he feared that he would not clear the exam. He consumed some poisonous substance on Friday afternoon and he was found in unconscious nearby the school ground. He was admitted at the Palladam Government Hospital for treatment.The boy has complained against his teacher for not permitting him to attend the practical exam, the police said.
