MADURAI: People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) will take part in the meeting on December 15 between the Central government committee appointed to allay the fears about the safety of Kudankulam nuclear project (KKNPP) and the State panel.S P Udayakumar, convenor of the PMNAE, said during a conference organised against the KKNPP here on Sunday, that they are always ready for talks. “During the meeting on December 15, the report prepared by the expert panel of PMANE will be submitted to the Central team. We will also insist that the Central team should talk to our team of experts hereafter to sort out the issues,” he said. Meanwhile in Chennai, the Tamil Nadu unit of Hindu Mahasabha staged a demonstration on Sunday demanding immediate commissioning of the KKNPP. According to Veer Vasanth, State president of the sabha, the N-project is the only available technology to solve the huge power crisis prevailing in India. Udayakumar alleged that the Centre is acting to safeguard the interests of mutlinational corporations and their parent countries rather than the people who elected it. He also alleged that TN-Kerala row over the Mullaiperiyar dam is a deliberate attempt by the Congress governments at Centre and in Kerala to divide the people from both states who have been united against the KKNPP.
