On the 60th year of Indian Independence, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh promised a massive package for farmers’ welfare. Singh announced a Rs 25,000-crore investment package the agricultural sector. The Prime Minister also said that in order to boost science and professional education, eight new IITs and seven new IIMs will be set up.
