Police seize Rs 25 lakh from private college principal's residence

Police on Thursday seized Rs 25 lakh from a private college principal's residence and detained him at Beta Chowk in Bihar's Darbhanga district.

Acting on a tip off, a police team raided Dr Zakir Hussain Teachers' Training College Principal Dr M Hasan's residence and seized Rs 25 lakh in Indian and foreign currencies, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra said.

Hasan was detained for questioning after he failed to give convincing reply about the source of the money. Election Commission observer for Darbhanga Parliamentary seat was also present during search at the principal's residence, Mishra said.

Income Tax officials have been requested to join the probe in this case, he said.
