THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government and those in the cooperative sector should strive to save the sector from the clutches of over politicisation, Speaker G Karthikeyan said. He was speaking after distributing cash awards to the children of the staff of the Kerala State Cooperative Employees’ Welfare Board at a function held here on Friday. Though the cooperative sector has made immense contributions to the development of the state, of late over politicisation is ruining the sector. The political parties and representatives in the cooperative sector responsible for this situation are blocking the development of the state, he said.The cash prizes were distributed to the children of cooperative employees who scored high marks in the SSLC and Plus-II examinations. Kerala State Cooperative Employees’ Welfare Board vice-chairman G Sugunan presided over the function. E Narayanan, V M Gopala Menon, Dr Raveendran, Charles Antony, A R Radhakrishnan and N Swaminathan spoke. M N Gopalakrishna Panicker welcomed the gathering and C M Ajaya Mohan proposed a vote of thanks.
