A total of 110 NCC cadets from No 1 Kerala Air Squadron NCC took part in the second pre-VSC camp.With the sole aim of the camp being selection and training of the cadets for the forthcoming all-India VSC, rather than teaching the nuances of various disciplines of competitions, they were imparted with the nitty-gritty and finer details of each activity, said a press release. Training was imparted in flying Microlite, aeromodelling, drill, tent-pitching and firing both in skeet and .22 rifle etc.    The selected few will be called in for the third and final camp to be held from  September 26 to October 5. This will coincide with their departure for Bengaluru on October 7 by train. In all, 27 cadets, including six girl cadets, will form the contingent of Kerala & Lakshadweep (K&L) Directorate to compete against 16 other NCC Directorates.The training was imparted with utmost care for ‘eye for details.’ The DDG of the K&L Directorate visited and inspected the camp site to check the progress of training.The commanding officer of the unit Wg Cdr D Sendhil Kumar expressed confidence that the cadets would make steady progress with the dedicated effort put in by the training staff.first published:September 21, 2012, 09:12 ISTlast updated:September 21, 2012, 09:12 IST
