HYDERABAD: Former IPS officer C Anjaneya Reddy on Friday urged the chief election commissioner to initiate action against Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy for threatening settlers in Telangana region after conducting a probe into the matter.Anjaneya Reddy on behalf of Visalandhra Mahasabha, an apolitical organisation committed to integration of the state, wrote a letter to the CEC to this effect. After Pocharam’s re-election in the bypoll on the TRS ticket, he openly threatened the people who settled in Telangana long ago, for not voting for him, Anjaneya Reddy said.People from coastal districts of the state who settled in Nizamabad district about 70 years ago, are still considered settlers by him.Issuing such threats is punishable under Section 125 of the Representation of People’s Act, the former IPS officer said. “In view of the culpable conduct of the MLA, we request you to conduct an inquiry into the matter by a senior officer of the Election Commission,” Anjaneya Reddy requested the CEC.
