The practice match was organised for the Indian cricket team before it leaves for the tri-series in Malaysia.

New Delhi: Team India's preparation for the Malaysia tri-series received a set back on Friday when middle-order batsman Suresh Raina suffered an injury.

Raina, who was batting for India juniors in a practice match in Chennai, was injured when the ball was deflected on to his cheek and he started bleeding.

He was injured off a full-toss sent down by pacer Ajit Agarkar.

The practice match was organised for the Indian cricket team before it leaves for the tri-series in Malaysia.

Indian team's biomechanist Ian Frazer said that doctors present at the ground examined Raina who required two stiches.

The youngster did not take the field with in the second half of the practice match but is likely to play the second warm-up game on Saturday.

India face world champions Australia and Champions Trophy winners West Indies in the tri-series that starts on September 12.
