KOCHI: Steps should be taken to remove the stigma that prevails against HIV patients in the society, Union Minister of State for Agriculture K V Thomas has said. He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Red Ribbon Express’, which arrived at Ernakulam Junction railway station on Sunday. The special train, launched to create awareness about HIV-AIDS, is touring the country with the message ‘Let your life be on the right track’.Excise Minister K Babu presided over the function. Hibi Eden MLA inaugurated the awareness programmes organised on the train. ‘Life buses’ have also been arranged to organise similar programmes in those areas which are not accessible by the train. The buses will tour 16 centres in the district.Mayor Tony Chammany, Deputy Mayor B Bhadra, District Panchayat Eldhose Kunnappilly, District Medical Officer R Sudhakaran and other officials of the Health Department were also present at the inauguration function.
