GUNTUR: Director-general of police V Dinesh Reddy on Thursday contended that the AP High Court has not ordered the government to submit a report on the properties owned by him and his wife.Media reports to the effect that such a fiat was rendered by the court are nothing but “a fabrication,” said the DGP in remarks to reports during a visit to Guntur Thursday.Dinesh Reddy went on to threaten legal action against media houses for indulging in a ‘’conspiracy to defame me.’’ The state police chief said none of the mediapersons had consulted him for his version before publishing the reports on the issue.“As chief of the state police, the High Court has to send the directions to me or to the state government. But neither of us has received the said directions till date,” he said. The reports were based on false information supplied by someone with an intention to defame him, he added. The DGP said he would demand legal action in his petition against media organisations, reporters and also persons who distributed the false news.“They (reports) are one-sided and baseless,” he said. He said the government has appointed a committee headed by Hyderabad police commissioner A K Khan to look into how and why there were ‘’false news reports.’’ The DGP said one lakh pairs of shoes went missing from the police store in the state capital, as reported in the media earlier.
