BANGALORE: The outward placidness of the lush green lawns of the Raj Bhavan threw a pictureperfect situation to the deceptive calm prevailing in the ruling BJP as DV Sadananda Gowda took oath as Chief Minister on Thursday evening, with a large number of party colleagues boycotting the event. With even leaves and branches of trees still, the near-chill atmosphere sent across the message of the party leaders and workers of being both happy and gloomy.Happiness was writ large on the face of Gowda's family members, but it looked a bit shaded as they were conscious of the tough road ahead for their man.The shouting of slogans by BJP workers and beating of drums for 'Veerabhadra Kunita' artistes helped dispel the heaviness in the air to some extent. But the countenances of state BJP president K S Eshwarappa and party national general secretary Ananth Kumar revealed that they tended to dismiss the enthusiasm of the workers with a wry smile. It was with great difficulty that three top BJP leaders B S Yeddyurappa, Eshwarappa and Ananth Kumar managed to smile, thus making it obvious that everything was still not well in the party, though the former chief minister in his trademark white safari with red tika on his forehead hugged his successor with a broad smile. As was his usual practice, Yeddyurappa went round the venue shaking hands with his colleagues and senior party leaders present at the venue.
