THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All steps have been taken to ensure full protection for the Peroorkada Junction development work, which is 90-per cent complete and directions have been given to the police to take stringent action against those who obstruct the progress of the work, K Muraleedharan MLA has said here in a statement. Any shortcomings would be rectified in the second phase of development. He has also called upon the common people to forget communal differences and stand together for the development of the area. The MLA stated that for the last one month, he has been coordinating the road development work here and a schedule has been prepared to complete the work along the Kowdiar-Peroorkada- Vazhayila road and Peroorkada Junction development in a time-bound manner. “It is a fact that there are certain drawbacks with the current plan. However, the work as per the plan has been 90 per cent completed. If any problems are created, that would only add to the woes of the common people. And if the work is not completed at the earliest, huge monetary loss would be incurred. Those who are hell-bent on obstructing the work should understand the consequences completely. Their actions would invite stringent legal action,” the MLA has said. A common agreement on various issues related to the road work was reached at a meeting convened by the MLA last month. “Once the work is completed as per the present plan, the shortcomings can be dealt with in the second phase of development. That is the only practical solution before us,” he has stated. A high-level meeting to review the progress of the work would be held on August 9.
