HYDERABAD: To expand police service and help police personnel in the state, the police department will release Rs. 1 crore every year under the Police Welfare Fund.In all police training centres, one government doctor along with medical facilities will also be provided, home minister P Sabita Indra Reddy has said.Addressing police personnel on Police Commemoration Day on Friday, the home minister said from this year, every policeman will be able to undergo health check-up twice a year and given some extra allowances for healthcare.“We all have to salute and honour the courage and commitment of 634 police martyrs who laid down their lives this year in execution of their duty.They gave their today for our tomorrow,” she said. She released the list of six sub-inspectors and police constables who had died while performing duties in the past one year. Later, the commemoration day parade was held as a mark of respect for police martyrs. Earlier, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy visited the Martyrs’ Memorial at Goshamahal and paid tributes.Director-general of police V Dinesh Reddy said to make the police department stronger, they will be recruiting 22,000 police constables soon. The constables will be given proper training to make them professional policemen, he added.
