Rs 10.63 crore push for government hospitals
Jaya inaugurates a slew of new facilities at a number of hospitals across the State

As part of measures to enhance the quality of medical services provided, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, on Tuesday, inaugurated a slew of new infrastructure facilities at a number of hospitals across the State at a total cost of Rs 10.63 crore.

An official release said that the CM, through video conferencing, opened the new building for the maternity ward of the Pollachi Government District Headquarters Hospital in Coimbatore constructed at a cost of Rs 75 lakh. The new building has an additional strength of 24 beds apart from a modern surgical theatre.

At the Udumalaipettai Government Hospital in Tirupur, expansion works at the maternity ward was carried out at a cost of Rs 1.57 crore, with 30 more beds added to the hospital’s capacity. Similarly, infrastructure at the Kovilpatti and Dindigul Government Hospitals were augmented at a cost of Rs 1.45 crore with the construction of an emergency ward.

The Egmore Women and Children Welfare Hospital in Chennai, a new 31,000 sqft new building, which was put up at a cost of Rs 5.60 crore, was opened by the CM.
