Salary revision for employees of five institutions

The government has revised the salary and allowances of the employees of Tourist Resort Kerala Ltd, State Institute of Children’s Literature, Aralam Farming Corporation, Institute of Labour and Employment and Vegetable and Fruits Promotion Council.

At the post-Cabinet briefing here on Wednesday, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that the employees would get the revised salary and allowances with retrospective effect from 1 July 2009.

He said the 16 km stretch of the National Highway between Kuttippuram and Puthu Ponnnani would be repaired using State Government fund.  He said that in view of the bank holidays on August 22 and 23, the  government has asked the authorities to extend the last date for paying examination fee of nursing students to August 24.

Chandy said that the discussion on the takeover of Travancore Rayons in Perumbavoor, Commonwealth Trust in Kozhikode, and Alind at Kundara, which   remain closed, were progressing. The employees of these companies would be given Onam allowance at last year’s rate, he said.

Nelliampathy issue

Oommen Chandy said that there was no confusion over the Nelliampathy issue as the government had a clear stand on the issue.

The interest of the state would be protected in the issue, he said.

When pointed out that Forest Minister K B Ganesh Kumar had called for a CBI inquiry into the Nelliampathy issue, he said that the UDF would decide on it.

When pointed out that some posters criticising him had appeared in front of the KPCC office here, he said the Congress party always gave maximum freedom to its workers.

He said the KPCC president could not prevent it  if anyone decided to place such posters.
