THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Speaker G Karthikeyan has constituted a nine-member Joint Assembly Committee headed by V D Satheesan of the Congress to probe into the alleged irregularities in the appointment of Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan's son, V A Arun Kumar as the director of ICT Academy under the IT Department. The Joint Assembly Committee will have four members each from the LDF and the UDF. The issue was raised by Youth Congress president and MLA P C Vishnunath in the House while speaking at the debate on the demands for grants in the Assembly.
Achuthanandan later refuted the charges levelled against his son through a statement in the Assembly. Vishnunath had alleged that the previous LDF Government had appointed Arun Kumar as the ICT Academy director prior to the Assembly elections. Vishnunath said that the decision was taken by the director board of Information and Communication Technology Academy headed by the then Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan on the eve of the election notification.
