HYDERABAD: The state government on Friday appointed new vice-chancellors to three universities including Osmania University. Prof S Satyanarayana, who is currently serving as the registrar of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), will be the new vice-chancellor of Osmania University.According to communication from Raj Bhavan, Dr P Prakash has been appointed as vice-chancellor of Dr BR Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) in Hyderabad and Prof Akbar Ali Khan Mohammed for Telangana University in Nizamabad. While Satyanarayana and Akbar Ali Khan Mohammed have over two decades experience in university education, Dr P Prakash, who is currently working as additional secretary of University Grants Commission at Delhi is learnt to have been active in academic administration.Satyanarayana started his career in 1983 as NSS programme officer in OU and worked in various positions. In 2002, he took over as Directorate of Admissions in OU. In 2006, he was appointed the principal of Nizam college and later became the registrar of RGUKT. Akbar Ali Khan Mohammed is a seniormost academician who started as a commerce lecturer at Satavahana Post-Graduate Institute in Karimnagar. He joined OU as a commerce lecturer in 1988 and later became principal of OU College of Commerce and Business Management. Currently, he is professor in the commerce department at OU. Indian Commerce Association honoured him with Fellow of the Year award at its All-India Commerce Conference held at Nagpur in 2008. Prakash is an alumni of OU . He is also a recipient of CSIR national scholarship and also won the Young Scientist award from Indian Botanical Society. He joined UGC and contributed immensely for tertiary education and policies. He was registrar of Urdu University at Hyderabad.
