New Delhi: After griping about Apple's home-grown Maps feature on the new iPhone 5, users now are moaning about the scratch-prone sides and rear panel of the new iPhone 5.
According to reports, the back case of the recently launched Apple iPhone 5 is highly susceptible to scratching, while some are even claiming that Apple's new iPhone is arriving with a variety of scuffs and scrapes out of the box.
According to a Forbes report, the new iPhone 5 handsets "are not as durable as some would like them to be, and appear to scratch easily," adding, "Some claim that their handset was scratched straight out of the box, with the damage having occurred at the assembly plant before the iPhone 5 was put into the box. The damage was underneath the protective film that Apple applies to its devices and couldn't have been caused in transit."
Some users are also grumbling that while their handsets were okay coming out of the box, they soon got scratches on the back and sides from light usage. Some even suggest that the black model is more prone to damage, as compared to the white model.
"The iPhone 5's case is made out of anodized (i.e., coated) aluminum, which, while being lighter than the stainless steel used in the iPhone 4 and 4S, is also softer and appears to be more susceptible to scratching," said The Verge.
Apple hasn't yet commented on the issue. The good news here is that in the US Apple gives iPhone customers 30 days to return their handsets if they are not satisfied.
This is not the first time that Apple has come up with a product that is scratch-prone. Back in early 2009, Apple settled a $22.5 million lawsuit over scratch problems concerning to its iPod nano.
