Infosys, Wipro, TCS asked to stay on alert after militant says he visited city to get weapons.

Pune: Infosys, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services and other companies in Pune’s Hinjewadi information technology park have been asked to increase security after an alleged terrorist’s disclosure that he had visited the city for arms.

Police claim Bilal Ahmed Kota, who was arrested in Bangalore on Friday, is a Kashmiri terrorist and visited Pune in November 2006 to collect a consignment of arms and ammunition.

Bilal, a resident of Srinagar, allegedly had plans to target the Infosys centre and airport in Bangalore. His disclosure has led the authorities in Pune to ask IT companies to stay alert and increase cooperation with police.

Security has been increased at the Pune airport and a Maharashtra police team from Mumbai will visit Bangalore soon.

Bilal’s controllers had asked him to visit the offices of Wipro and Infosys and the Bangalore airport to find out about security, alleged police in Bangalore.

Bangalore Police recovered one AK-47 gun, bullets and a map of Banglore city with the airport and the Infosys campus marked from Bilal when they arrested him.
