Two audio clips, which were accessed by CNN-News18, have surfaced that have revealed how the officials of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital purportedly tried to mislead the parents of the woman doctor, who was found allegedly raped and murdered inside a seminar hall at the institution on August 9.
In the first clip, the conversation is between the victim’s father and an assistant superintendent at the RG Kar hospital, who is heard telling him that his daughter is “extremely unwell and has been hospitalised”, while the second clip has a man’s voice telling the parents that the trainee medic has died by suicide and they should quickly come over to the hospital.
“Her condition is really bad. Your daughter has been hospitalised; please hurry,” a woman is heard telling the victim’s father in the first clip. When he seeks more details about whether she has fever, the woman says: “I am not a doctor, I am an assistant superintendent; your daughter has been admitted to the emergency, her condition is very bad. A doctor will tell you more about this.”
Here’s a short transcription of the conversation:
RG Kar: She is unwell come to hospital. We’re admitting her.
Parents: Please tell us what has happened?
RG Kar: She is really unwell, we’re admitting her.
Parents: Does she have fever, how bad is her condition?
RG Kar: Doctors will tell you when you come.
Parents: Does she have fever?
RG Kar: Can’t say, might have died by suicide.
Parents: Silence.
In the second clip, a man is heard telling her parents: “Please come as soon as possible. Your daughter is no more. She might have died by suicide. The police are here, so you also come quickly. You will know more when you are here.”
It is clear from both the audio clips that the doctor’s parents repeatedly insisted on knowing about her condition, but the authorities kept deflecting their questions by saying only a doctor can tell them about the whole scenario.
While these audio clips could not be independently verified by News18, they throw light on the parents’ statement that the hospital authorities informed them how their daughter has died of suicide, and how they did not let them see her body for at least three hours after they reached the hospital.
According to information available, Anita Dhara is suspected to be the assistant superintendent whose voice is heard in the audio clip. However, the former head of department of chest medicine had told the police and CBI that the call was made by Dwaipayan Biswas, who is a deputy superintendent.
