BANGALORE: New Lokayukta Justice Shivaraj V Patil assumed office on Wednesday and said that he is not a BJP man and indicated that he is tough on corruption and maladministration.
Later, he held a press meet and said, "My appointment is by a competent authority. I have never considered or consider myself to be appointed by the BJP. I have been a judge at various levels. I can be polite in treatment and firm in judgement. Time will unfold", he said.He was administered the oath of office by Governor H R Bharadwaj at the Raj Bhavan in the morning. New Upa Lokayukta Justice R Gururajan also took charge. Patil sent a strong signal to corrupt officials and public representatives and said that he will be tough in dealing with them. He cautioned people from the top to bottom who are into maladministration and said that they will definitely feel the heat of the new Lokayukta.
