The government should sponsor projects for using solar power in government offices, Mayor K Chandrika has said.
According to Chandrika, who is a former KSEB officer, energy conservation should become a way of life. She was speaking after inaugurating a state-level project of the Kerala Energy Conservation Forum to open 50 energy conservation clubs each in every district and to conduct 1,000 seminars on the topic across the state.
The formation of the clubs would help reduce the use of electricity, the Mayor said, inaugurating the project at Government GVHSS, Manacaud. The clubs will be started at engineering colleges, polytechnics, ITIs and higher secondary and vocational higher secondary schools, forum coordinator J Gopakumar said. Forum chairman Paravur Sajeeb presided over the function.
