KANHANGAD: Sporadic violence continued in Kanhangad and adjacent places in the wee hours of Tuesday even after an all-party peace meet appealed to all sections of people to maintain peace and communal harmony.Two houses were stoned in Muriyanavi around 2am on Tuesday. The houses belonged to Ambadi and K P Krishnan. The power and water connection to the house of 90-year old Ambadi was disconnected by the miscreants before attacking the house. Ambadi was hospitalised as he was injured with a glass splinter of the windowpanes which was broken in stone-throwing.The house of K P Krishnan was also attacked on the same night. Both Ambadi and Krishnan belonged to the families of CPM sympathisers.Abubaker, 26, a IUML sympathiser was stabbed by a four-member gang who came in an autorickshaw. The police have registered a case against two CPM men in connection with the incident.Meanwhile, the police tightened the vigilance at night in Kasargod town. Special police patrols have been introduced in the town from 1am to 5am. The police have banned pillion riding in the town after 1 am.The police teams would conduct night patrol in the town and anyone found under suspicious circumstances would be taken into custody.
