HYDERABAD: A Sri Lanka national was detained by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad on Sunday while trying to travel with a fake passport. According to sources, 24 year-old Kathirkam Thasinthan, a Srilankan national, was detained by the airport police in New Delhi on Saturday while trying to travel to New York on a fake passport of Ajeesh Goel and handed him over to local police. A case was registered.But the accused managed to escape from the Delhi police. Based on Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV) footage, police got to know that the accused took an Air India 126 flight from Delhi to Hyderabad and reached here by 7.35 p.m. on Saturday. With the Delhi police alerting the CISF in Hyderabad, they arrested the accused at RGIA. The CISF officials handed him over to the RGIA police on Sunday and he was taken back to Delhi. Police said that seven fake passport cases were registered in various places against the accused in the country. He has been absconding for six months.
