CHENNAI: External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on Thursday said that India would take a final call on its stand on the US-backed resolution to be placed for voting before the Union Nat ions Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva on the accountability issues of the Sri Lankan civil war involving human rights violations only after taking into account overall relations between India and Lanka, besides the sentiments prevailing in Tamil Nadu.“We will take every factor into consideration before we take a final stand,” Krishna told mediapersons at Chennai airport en route to Singapore.Krishna’s comments on the issue come days after Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa shot off two letters to the Prime Minister seeking India’s support to the US-backed resolution. In her second letter, she had taken exception to India’s reported stand that it was against ‘country-specific’ resolutions at UNHRC meet, pointing out that it would amount to directly supporting Lanka.UPA’s key ally, the DMK, as also MDMK and PMK, have urged the Centre not to back Colombo at any cost.
