HYDERABAD: Students are usually under pressure during examinations and the power cuts only added to their owes. Most of the academic examinations-- Intermediate, degree, postgraduate, engineering, MCA, MBA etc--are held between March and May every year.Competitive examinations like Eamcet, AIEEE, IIT-JEE, PG entrance tests of universities and national entrance tests for medicine like AIMS and JIPMER are also held during these months.With the state government issuing notifications for 80,000 jobs in various government departments, a number of aspirants are also busy preparing for recruitment tests.Speaking to Express, D Nagi Reddy, a Group II aspirant who lives in Hayath Nagar, said in the last 15 days, there were many unscheduled power cuts in his area.“They are taking out power for 10-15 minutes at least five times during the day,” he said.The situation in the rural areas and mandal headquarters is really bad.For instance, at Chevella in Ranga Reddy district, where many engineering colleges are located, daytime power cuts stretch to more than six hours.Approximately, one crore students studying class Xth and above are affected by the power cuts.Five lakh students in the three north coastal districts are appearing for SSC and Intermediate exams, while nearly an equal number are taking the two exams in Kadapa, Anantapur, Chittoor and Nellore districts.In Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Khammam, 5.35 lakh students are appearing for the exams.
