BANGALORE: The anti-corruption drive inspired by Anna Hazare spilled over to city streets as thousands of enthusiastic students took out marches from their colleges to Freedom Park here on Monday, demanding a strong Jan Lokpal Bill. Over 300 students from Kammavari Sangam Group of Educational Institution marched all the way from Konankunte to Freedom Park shouting slogans and seeking support of the on-lookers for the Jan Lokpal Bill proposed by Team Anna Hazare.Punith, one of the students who had walked 22 km, said, “Though it was very tiresome to walk from Konankunte, we enjoyed it because we were walking for a cause. The teachers in the college and our parents encouraged us. We will continue to take part in the protest in some or the other form till the government concedes Anna Hazare’s demands.”The students of T John College, situated near Basavanpura on Bannerghatta Road, started their protest from Lalbagh main gate.According to the students, they volunteered to undertake the march and the college permitted them.The students of Surana College, NMKRV College and Vijaya College took out a joint march from Jayanagar. Around 20 students of BNES College in Mahalakshmipuram gathered at Freedom Park accompanied by the students of other colleges, though their college refused to permit them to take part in the protest during college hours.Many protest marches were also undertaken at various places around the city, including Basaveshwarnagar, Hebbal, Yelahanka and Shivajinagar by the residents and different political parties.
