Singapore: Sujjan Singh, despite a closing bogey, emerged as the best Indian at the end of the second day, but the second round of the ISPS Handa Singapore Classic was yet to be completed as poor visibility once again brought a premature halt to play here on Friday.
Sujjan, with a second round 67, to go with his first round 69, was four-under 136 for two days and in tied 18th place. But Jeev Milkha Singh, who shot a 68 on first day, was one-under through three holes in the second.
However, some of the other Indians had a satisfactory day as Gaganjeet Bhullar (68-69), Anirban Lahiri (68-69) and Himmat Rai (68-69) were all at three-under after 36 holes.
They were provisionally placed at tied 27th with the cut looking likely at one-under or even par. Thailand's Thaworn Wiratchant continued to hold the second round lead by staying atop the leaderboard on 11-under-par through five holes after play was suspended.
Jyoti Randhawa (69-71) and Digvijay Singh (70-70) were even par and needed the cut to go down to that to make the weekend. Ajeetesh Sandhu, after a 72 in first round, was one-under through six holes in second round. Gaurav Ghei 73 in first round and Manav Jaini 74 on first day, were yet to start their second.
Like the opening round, thunderstorms forced play to be suspended for more than three hours. As a result, 77 players will have to resume their round on Saturday morning at Orchid Country Club.
Japan's Daisuke Kataoka posted a three-under-par 67 to complete his round in 132 and stayed three shots back of the Thai veteran while American Jonathan Moore signed for a 68 to take a share of third place alongside countryman Ben Fox, Spain's Javi Colomo, Chinnarat Phadungsil of Thailand and Canada's Ron Harvey Jnr on matching 133s.
