Sushma Swaraj Says Undergoing Tests for Kidney Replacement
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is admitted at AIIMS, is undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailment and is likely to remain in the hospital for a few days.

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has tweeted that she has suffered a kidney failure and is on dialysis.

“I am in AIIMS because of kidney failure. Presently, I am on dialysis. I am undergoing tests for a Kidney transplant. Lord Krishna will bless,” she tweeted on Wednesday morning a few hours before the Parliament was to convene for the first day of the Winter Session.

The Twitterati sent their prayers to the minister and lauded her for the disclosure, which is quite rare for an Indian politician.

Swaraj has been visiting the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) occasionally for a year or so, and she had checked in here last week. She was also not present during an official reception hosted to visiting Israeli President Reuven Rivlin in the national Capital.

After she took charge as the External Affairs Minister two and a half years ago, Sushma Swaraj was admitted to the hospital on three occasions for a brief period.

She had described them as routine health check-ups. She is reportedly suffering from high diabetes. Thousands of people, including political leaders, have wished her a speedy recovery by tweeting to her.
