Bangalore: Yet another life claimed by swine flu in Bangalore. 27-year-old Shilpa Hegad succumbed to swine flu in Karnataka. The toll has now risen to 25 in Karnataka.
Shilpa was admitted on August 12 to St John Hospital in Bangalore, she was given tamilflu and her condition deteriorated by the August 14
Earlier, 26-year-old Shamshad Begum died at the Baptist Hospital in Bangalore. This is the fourth H1N1 death in Bangalore. Her condition worsened on Saturday. She had acute respiratory disorder and was on ventilator.
This incident takes the total toll in the country to 25.
The death toll across the country, until Saturday stood at 23. The last victim to succumb to the flu was 28-year-old Manjunath in Bangalore.
He died on Saturday at a private hospital. The government has put out a priority list for administering Tamiflu.
Senior citizens, children and people in the high risk group will be attended to first.
Pune is the epicentre of the outbreak with the maximum number of deaths.
Pune Municipal Corporation has sought more doctors and nurses for its flu fight.
