New Delhi: As more cases of students under performance pressure from their parents come to light, An 18-year-old student committed suicide in Delhi. The victim's suicide note indicated that he wasn't able to live up to his parents expectations. But the police is still not sure about the reason behind his suicide.

The victim’s parents Ramesh and Anita are inconsolable after having lost their 18-year-old son on Tuesday evening. Their son Akshay committed suicide by hanging himself when they were at work. In his suicide note, he blamed himself for not being able to live up to his parents expectations.

Sources say Akshay was struggling to cope with maths, a subject he fared poorly in and in his class ten board exams.

Principal Dr SV Sharma said, “He has got 59 per cent in his class ten board exams and 48 in maths.

However, family members claim he was a good student and there was no reason for him to take this drastic step.

He was very good in studies and there was no pressure from home in any way.

The incident has even left the neigbours shocked.

Even police officials aren’t sure why Akshay committed suicide. The family too isn’t throwing much light on the incident but it seems that he had this strong desire to make his parents proud.

Akshay's death is another tragedy that highlights the pressures today's youngsters face.
