Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) was seen performing pooja at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on Monday.
KCR reached Yadadri Bhuvanagiri on Monday morning with his family to inaugurate the revamped Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, the reconstruction of which has been done at a cost of Rs 1,280 crore over the past five years. The aarti was performed following Maha Kumbha Samprokshana Yagam, amid chanting of mantras and Vedic hymns.
The chief minister attended the Maha Kumbha Samprokshana Yagam at 11.55 am to mark the grand inaugural of the temple.
KCR wore traditional clothes and attended the main puja and rituals with ministers, MLAs chief secretary Somesh Kumar and officials, EO Geetha and others.
The pujaris used Godavari water from Kaleshwaram project to conduct ‘abhishekam’ for one week.
MP Santosh Kumar, YADA Chairman Kishan Rao, MLC Kavitha and family members of the Chief Minister — his wife Shobha, grandson Himanshu and and others attended the ritual.
Ministers Harish Rao, Indrakaran Reddy, Jagadish Reddy, Srinivas Goud, Srinivas Yadav, Mahamood Ali, Dayakar Rao, MLA G Sunitha and others were also present on the occasion.
The temple has been constructed with 2,50,000 tonne black granite and exhibits a fusion of both Dravidian and Kakatiyan styles of architecture.
More than 2,000 sculptors and thousands of workers have been involved in the reconstruction work of the temple which is still under progress, news agency ANI reported.
Elaborate arrangements were made by the officials for the conduct of ‘Maha Kumbha Samprokshana’ ceremony. The temple management set up an automated and mechanised prasadam production unit atop the hill for distribution among the large number of devotees who were expected to visit the temple on Monday.
