HYDERABAD: Members of parliament of the ruling Congress from the Telangana region

of Andhra Pradesh Wednesday decided to surrender their security guards

to the state government to protest their arrests during the rail

blockade and some remarks by a police officer.Senior leader K.

Keshava Rao and seven other MPs said their decision was also to protest

against the use of non-bailable sections of the Railway Act against

them. The MPs demanded action against Police Officers

association's Chalapathi Rao, who had reportedly described the arrests

of MPs under non-bailable sections as "Operation Duryodhana".MPs Ponnam Prabhakar and S. Rajaiah met state Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana to convey their decision. The

Congress leaders urged Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, Home Minister

Sabita Indra Reddy and Director General of Police Dinesh Reddy to take

action against the officer. The MPs were arrested during the

'rail blockade' called by Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC)

Saturday to press the demand for separate Telangana state. Two of them

were even sent to jail, but were later released on bail. The MPs

had submitted their resignations in July to mount pressure on the party

leadership to initiate the process for formation of Telangana state.

However, the Lok Sabha speaker has not yet taken a decision on their

resignations.
