Telangana Government Lifts Six-year Ban On Employee Transfers
As per Government Order, the transfers will be made during the period between July 1 to July 20.

The state government of Telangana lifted the ban on the transfer of general employees on Tuesday, July 2. The government employees will be able to opt for the transfers if they have completed four years of service at the place. The ban was lifted after six years. This move is expected to benefit around three lakh employees, posted in various departments and 1.5 lakh teachers working in government schools. According to the Government Order (GO) issued by the Special Chief Secretary of the Finance Department, Ramakrishna Rao, disclosed that employees who have been working in the same place for four years must be transferred.

As per GO, the transfers will be made during the period between July 1 to July 20. The employees will be transferred through online counselling transparently without any manipulation. There will be no voluntary transfers for those who retire by June 30, 2025. The employees who have not completed two years will also not be transferred under the latest Telangana government order. No employees will be retained beyond four years of service in a particular station as of June 30, 2024.

It also included a provision not to transfer more than 40 per cent of the employees in the same cadre. The employees can choose the areas for their transfer. The names of five areas where each employee wishes to be transferred can be sent to the head of the department. Priority will be given to those employees who are suffering from diseases, spouses, who retire within a year, disabled and children suffering from mental diseases will have priority in transfer.

The government will discuss with the trade unions from July 5 to 8. After that, the details of the vacancies and the exact transfer of employees will be revealed. Options will be taken from employees from July 9 to 12.

After that, the applications received from the employees will be considered from July 13 to 18. Orders regarding transfers will be issued on July 19 and 20th. The ban on general transfers of employees will come into effect from July 21.
