WARANGAL: Mild tension prevailed at the new bus station in Hanamkonda on Saturday evening when cops wielded lathis twice against T activists and Telangana Mazdoor Union leaders who tried to obstruct NMU meeting, which was attended by Union general secretary Mahmood.KU students and women also reached the place and raised slogans against Mahmood terming him ‘T betrayer’.Police, who provided heavy bandobust to the meeting, tried to disperse the T activists and this led to some jostling forcing cops to cane the protestors. Later, police arrested about 40 T activists and the meeting was held amidst tight security.The NMU general secretary claimed that he had not betrayed people in the region and that he committed no blunder during Sakala Janula Samme. “The strike was withdrawn with the consent of 90 per cent of RTC workers after reaching an agreement with the government,” he said and added that NMU respected the T stir. “Some people are intentionally picturising me as anti-T,” he alleged.
