HYDERABAD: As industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad aka Matrix Prasad walked into the criminal courts complex at Nampally surrounded by the CBI sleuths and hounded by media personnel, the mood among several industrialists, family members and the likes of the businessman, who gathered at the court hall, turned sober. The mood was evident as Nimmagadda Prasad himself was seen in a state of shock and was on the verge of breaking down.Around 3 p.m, Prasad and IRS officer KV Brahmananda Reddy were taken by the CBI sleuths and produced before the Principal Special Judge for CBI Cases A Pullaiah. Prasad stood with folded hands before the judge even as his associates waited for the court’s verdict. As the judge asked Prasad whether he was ill-treated by the CBI sleuths during the custody, he said `No.’ After the judge sent the two accused to judicial remanded till May 30, Prasad walked out of the court hall silently.Prasad and Brahmananda Reddy were taken to the public prosecutors room adjacent to the court hall to complete the formalities before shifting them to the prison.Some of his family members and some industrialists met him in the chambers. Prasad reportedly broke down and was consoled by the visitors. A woman, said to be a close relative of Brahmananda Reddy, met him in the chambers and returned after a few minutes with tears in her eyes.However, none showed interest to talk to the media or identify themselves. “No, we are not connected with Prasad,” a middle-aged person said after meeting the businessman.Prasad reportedly was in a state of hypertension as revealed by medical tests conducted at the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Kendriya Sadan revealed. At 9.20 a.m when he was taken to the CGHS, his Blood Pressure stood at 150/106 and the doctors wrote, “Advice to consult physician.’Prasad was later taken to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) where he was diagnosed with hypertension.’ Prasad’s BP stood at 160/100 at 12.30 p.m and the doctors diagnosed that he was anxious.’ He was suffering from headache and neck pain at that time.After an hour’s stay at the court, Prasad and Brahmananda Reddy were shifted to the Chanchalguda prison. The duo were lodged in the admission barrack along with more than 15 others.CBI Plea for CustodyPrasad and Brahmananda Reddy were remanded till May 30 after their arrest in Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s alleged illegal assets case. The CBI sought 14 days custody to interrogate the accused which was opposed by the defence counsel. “We can seek custody for only the first 15 days of the remand. We want to utilise the opportunity,” CBI deputy legal advisor B Ravindranath said. As the defence counsel said they have not gone through the remand reports and sought time to file their counter, the court posted for hearing the counter and disposal of the matter to Thursday.
