The Netherlands on Tuesday showed interest to work in partnership with Bihar particularly in the field of urban development, health and women empowerment.
This was conveyed by a Dutch trade delegation headed by its Ambassador in India Alphonsus Stoelinga.
The Ambassador told reporters that the main focus of the mission was on urban development, a theme where the Netherlands and India have joined hands.
The Ambassador met Urban Development Secretary B Sidarth.
"The Dutch integral approach to urban planning, with an eye for the environment and social cohesion, can be of great added value to India's rapidly urbanising society," he said.
Stoelinga said Bihar has indicated its interest to draw upon Dutch expertise in water management, land reclamation and urban planning.
He said they are considering a proposal by Royal HaskoningDHV to build a tunnel across the ganga as an alternative to the 5.5 km long Mahatama Gandhi setu, which is in bad shape now.
In a bid to support women empowerment, the Dutch Ambassador will ride an auto-rickshaw driven by a woman in the capital on Wednesday.
Stoelinga is scheduled to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday.
