Set in a simple, thick silver-coloured chain, the bracelet has long since become a part of Salman's style statement

Be it the shirtless look, the dedicated 'sanskaari' boy of the Rajshree Films, or the ill-fated lover Radhe, in 'Tere Naam', Salman Khan has always had a way of inspiring fashion trends. One trend, however, that has remained steady since his "second innings" in Bollywood in 2003, is of course, the aquamarine bracelet.

Set in a simple, yet thick silver-coloured metal chain (could be silver, white gold or platinum), the bracelet has long since become a part of Salman's style statement.

While Salman made his Bollywood debut in the late '80s, his bracelet only featured in 2003. While many 'Bhai' fans believe that the bracelet is one of the reasons for Salman's unparalleled success in films, Salman himself, has said in several interviews that he wears it because it is a gift from his father, Salim Khan.

We take this opportunity to trace the filmi career of the bracelet, its highs and lows, and of course, the controversies.

In the public memory, the bracelet came to limelight with the film 'Tere Naam', in 2003. While Salman Khan's hairdo caught the masses' fancy by storm (WHY?!), the bracelet also got a taste of success.

It was also seen doing some collaborative work in 'Partner', with actor Govinda, in the year 2007.

As his films started getting more and more success, the bracelet started to appear in departmental stores, online shopping websites, tele-shopping channels and jewellery stores.

It was that one accessory that a 'Bhai' fan could carry with any look. Be it the 'gangsta' look (see below), or a more formal one.

The bracelet was also said to have been greatly favoured by the ladies.

And it makes fighting look badass.

Really badass.

So much so, that the bracelet (in a different look, of course) had an uncredited appearance in the teen sensation 'Twilight' and the subsequent films in the series. Who do you think can carry the bracelet with real 'swag'? Bhai, or Bella (played by actress Kristen Stewart)?

But alas, like all good things, there's a time and place for everything. Salman Khan was seen wearing this necklace -- a large metal dial, engraved with the symbols of all prominent world religions -- in the film 'Kick'.

Do you think Salman Khan and his fans have found a new must-have accessory? Or is it just a blink-and-you-miss trend? Only time will tell.

P.S.: How many times can you spot the bracelet in this theatrical trailer for 'Tere Naam'?

What's your reaction?
