Bangalore: Pulling up the government Urdu school which had issued a TC to a minor rape victim, the High Court on Wednesday said such things happen only in Afghanistan. After the headmistress of the school in Bangalore contended that if the girl was admitted, parents of other students would not send their children to school, Justice Ram Mohan Reddy asserted that the court will not let the school deny her admission. “Can you traumatise the child? Do you have common sense?” he asked.
The judge asked what was the problem if she attended school. “She is just 13, what is her fault? If other parents cannot send their children to this school, let them admit them to another school even if it means she is the only student. The entire school authority is showing no interest. The child has suffered due to a degenerated man,” the judge said and directed that the girl be identified as just “X”.
Later, government counsel Omkumar submitted that neither the headmistress nor the Education Department had any objection to her studying in the school. The judge directed the registry to return the TC to the petitioner to enable her to get readmitted. The school authorities had issued a TC to the girl after her family filed a police complaint against the alleged rapist.
