HYDERABAD: The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) has decided to intensify its agitation from August 8 and called upon government and private employees to take part in the ‘Sakala Janula Samme’ and in the indefinite agitation for a separate state from August 17. The TJAC appealed to the public representatives of Telangana to put in their papers by August 6 and participate in the agitation.At their steering committee meeting on Tuesday, TJAC leaders reviewed the prevailing political situation in Telangana and developments in Delhi. “We are intensifying the agitation to bring the administration to a standstill. We appeal to public representatives to submit their resignations by August 6. If they don’t, then the people will mount pressure on them,” TJAC convener M Kodandaram told reporters.The proposed all-people’s strike in Telangana will begin on August 8 and will be intensified in a phased manner, Kodandaram added. The TJAC would hold programmes like noncooperation, protest rallies, rasta roko and rail roko programmes across the region. They decided to implement all these programmes in coordination with other Telangana organisations including the Telangana Students Joint Action Committee (TSJAC).Kodandaram took exception to union home minister P Chidambaram’s statement that the state Assembly must reiterate its resolution seeking deletion of Clause 14 (F) of Presidential Order. The clause makes Hyderabad a free zone for employment, while supporters of separate statehood demand that the state capital be made part of a Telangana zone. He alleged that the central government was playing games and insulting the Telangana people. He suspected that the Centre was trying to create confusion deliberately.He also demanded that the written test for sub-inspectors’ recruitment should be postponed until clause 14 (f) is deleted. He warned that they would not allow the government to conduct the examinations. Meanwhile, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Telangana unit decided to intensify its ongoing agitation to expose the central and state government’s betrayal of Telangana. ABVP has decided to form Telangana Udyama committees in all colleges and build pressure on the elected representatives of Telangana.They also decided to organise protest rallies against clause 14 (F) on August 3 across the region and organise rasta rokos on all national and state highways.
