Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has sent a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking his intervention to solve the state's power problems. In her letter she said that Tamil Nadu has a demand-supply gap of 4,000 megawatt. She has also blamed central power generating units for the shortfall.
Jayalalithaa has informed the PM that the Centre owned Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) is only giving part of the quota for TN. She has blamed BHEL for a fire in a plant that affected production.
She has also attacked Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for not supplying enough naphtha for power generation.
She has demanded the Centre for power supply augmentation and proposal to buy power from surplus states not receiving positive response.
