BANGALORE:  The state government has decided to utilise funds under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (MGNREP) to construct individual toilets for job card holders.Addressing the press here on Thursday, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar said that provisions were made to utilise wages of 30 days under MGNREP to construct the individual toilets. "Each job card holder will get about `3,700 (30 day wages) under MGNREP if he or she wants to construct a toilet," the minister said.
On the complaints of irregularities in implementation of MGNREP, Shettar said that he had ordered an inquiry into the alleged misuse of funds under MGNREP in Bidar district. "I am sending a team from Bangalore to inquire into the allegations. The guilty will be punished," he added.
