TP murder: Kerala HC grants bail to five CPM men

The High Court on Monday granted bail to five CPM activists who are the accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case, registered at the Vadakara police station.

Justice N K Balakrishnan granted bail to third accused P M Rameesh alias Kuttu, fourth accused K P Dipin alias Dipi, fifth accused Raveendran, eighth accused K P Dilshad and ninth accused P K Muhammed Fasalu.  “Considering the period of detention and the facts, the accused are granted bail,” the court said.

On May 2, Chandrasekharan was invited by fifth accused Raveendran to a house-warming function. A card was handed over to TP, so that the other accused, actively involved in the murder conspiracy, would identify the person.

The court asked the accused to furnish a bond for Rs 2 lakh each along with two solvent sureties for the like amount. They were asked to appear before the investigation officer on all Mondays and Fridays and not to enter Kozhikode district. The court also asked the accused to furnish their mobile and landline numbers to the investigating officer. Meanwhile, the court granted bail to K K Krishnan and K C Ramachandran, who are the accused in a case registered at the Chombala police station in connection with a murder conspiracy hatched against Chandrasekharan in 2009. The court pointed out that the first accused C H Ashokan was granted bail.
