KOZHIKODE: The statements of Sijith alias Annan, one among the assailants arrested by the police on Wednesday, revealed that RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan had entered the CPM hit list soon after his ouster from the party.Sijith, on interrogation by the police, revealed the conspiracy hatched by a team involving gangster Kirmani Manoj and CPM local leaders K C Ramachandran, C H Asokan and K K Krishnan to eliminate Chandrasekharan way back in 2009 when the leader floated the Revolutionary Marxist Party.Sijith was then a member of the gangster group led by Kirmani Manoj.According to police, the gang followed the slain RMP leader for six days with deadly weapons during that period. However, the gang could not carry out the operation as the RMP leader was always surrounded by a group of followers then.K C Ramachandran, CPM’s Kunnummakkara local committee member who was arrested by the SIT earlier, then helped the assailants to conceal the weapons. Chandrasekharan had stopped carrying pillion riders as he was aware of a possible attack. Based on Sijith’s statement, Chombala Police have registered a case regarding the conspiracy in 2009 on Thursday against five persons with Kirmani Manoj as the first accused under various sections including 120B (criminal conspiracy), 118 (Concealing design to commit offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life), 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with deadly weapons), and 155 (Liability of person for whose benefit riot is committed).Police said that the ‘quotation’ was handed over to Kodi Suni as the gang under Kirmani Manoj failed to carry out the operation. Kodi Suni also included Sijith in his operation and thus the latter once again came in touch with Ramachandran. Chomabala police said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Chandrasekharan murder will also investigate this case. However, a separate case was charged as it occurred in 2009 within the limits of Chombala police station.
