Traffic cop arrested for assault

CHENNAI: A traffic cop was arrested here on Monday for allegedly attacking a fellow policeman and his wife. Police said, Kandavel (33), a constable with the Avadi traffic police and resident of the police quarters in Thirumullaivoyal, was playing cricket with his son at 10 am.  Meanwhile, Selvamani (34), a driver with the 5th battalion commandant, was parking his vehicle nearby, when the cricket ball fell on the vehicle’s windshield.  During the course of the arument that followed, Kandavel attacked Selvamani and his wife Arulmani, who came to his rescue, with the cricket bat, injuring them.
