New Delhi: When Yahoo had acquired Tumblr in May this year, it confirmed that it wouldn't restrict controversial content from appearing on the site, but now the company has made changes to the way adult content appears on Tumblr.
While the company won't ban users from uploading NSFW or nude photos to the site, it has made changes to how users can search and see content on the site, report Mashable.
According to Mashable, adult content will not appear in the tag pages or search pages for those who are not logged in or have "Safe Mode" turned on.
"The new changes primarily concern the display of blogs and posts in search and on mobile. Blogs classified as NSFW (ones that contain occasional nudity or adult content) or adult (ones that contain mostly nudity or adult-oriented material) will not show up in tag pages or search pages for users that are not logged in or who have "Safe Mode" turned on," reports Mashable.
However, this won't affect most Tumblr users, but it will impact the discoverability of content.
Founded in 2007, Tumblr emerged as a trendy online hangout by providing a blogging service that makes it easy to share posts, photos, video and other content in an enthralling mosaic of interlocking information. Tumblr forums are devoted to such diverse topics as art, architecture, food, politics, pets and fashion.
