VELLORE: Gudiyattam police led by ASP Sibi Chakravarthi on Monday nabbed two persons who were found stocking about 25,000 banned lottery tickets in Chunnambupettai area in the town.Following a tip off, police conducted a surprise raid on the premises of Velayudham (41) in the Parasurama Mudali street and seized 25,000 lottery tickets, one laptop, two mobile phones, one colour printer, four Internet data cards and a cash of `20,000. Velayudam and his assistant Ganesh (30) were arrested and later remanded.The police also arrested Vijayasankar (41) of Pichanur Nari Murugappa street in Gudiyattam for lending money at an exorbitant interest rate of 14 per cent to people who had pawned their ATM cards, cheques and blank bond papers.Inquiry revealed that many people had borrowed money from him. Based on a complaint, police raided his premises and seized over 200 ATM cards, blank cheques and bond papers.
