Ever imagined a book that stretches out for a massive two kilometres?
On display at the Chennai International Christian Book and Music Fair is the world's longest Bible weighing 200 kilograms, stretching out for two kilometres!
The single lamination full Bible also has colourful pictures interspersing the text.
Volunteers struggled as they manfully lifted the scroll to display the first chapter of the Bible, Genesis, to this reporter.
Also on display is the largest Bible, leather bound and weighing seven kilograms.
Organised by OM Books, the exhibition features the world's smallest complete Bible, weighing 10 grams with all 1,189 chapters — Old Testament and New Testament together.
Standing on a proportionately small wooden pulpit, this is the cynosure of all eyes. Jose Thomas, regional manager of OM Books, says that plans are underway for mass production of the tiny version of the Christian holy text, which should be available in the market by next year. Jose says, "We also have nearly 10,000 varieties of Christian literature, different kinds and versions of Bibles, Gospel T-shirts, mugs and heavily-discounted music CDs and DVDs. Book prices range from Rs 10 to Rs 25,000, music collections are at Rs 40 for CDs and Rs 50 for DVDs. International Christian movies too are available."
Staying the miniature scale, a two-kilometre long smaller version of the Bible is also on display apart from waterproof and metal Bibles.
The fair will be on till August 12 at the Bishop Manickam Hall, Harleys Road, Kilpauk from 9 am to 8 pm, including Sundays.
